When I was a kid my mom’s first husband was in the military so we moved around a lot, predominately outside of the United States. Moving so much made it hard for us to keep up with American television and culture so my grandmother used to record television shows and cartoons and send them to us on VHS tapes, usually mailing over a full box at a time.
In one such box she included some VHS tapes she’d found at a local garage sale. While she saw them as just cartoons, she’d inadvertently picked up some English dubbed Hello Kitty cartoons from the late 80’s.
And from that point forward I was in love with anything and everything Sanrio.
When I started my first website/blog at 14, it was decorated with Chococat. When I had my daughter, she was given a Hello Kitty bedroom. Her favorite blanket to this day is a Hello Kitty blanket I gave her when she was 3. She is currently 9.
So, when Ipsy announced July’s theme, I lost my mind. I adore Gudetama, the lazy, lil’ egg with a perpetual “meh” mentality. This Sanrio creation is absolutely precious (and if you don’t believe me, go look up some Gudetama shorts…they’re the best.)
But, what about what’s IN my bag this month? Let’s get into it!
This month’s bag was very different than other bags I’ve received in that I didn’t have a single full size product. This kinda bums me out, to be honest. While the products I received are still very much worth the $10 price tag of the monthly Ipsy service, it would have been kinda nice to have at least one full size product. Meh.
First off, I received two lip products and I loooooove them. I was sent a Hanalei lip treatment in Rose and lemme tell ya…it smells, feels, and tastes so good. This lip treatment packs a big moisturizing punch and my lips are already less dry than usual. The other lip product is a sample size Winky Lux Double Matte Lip Cream in a color called Angel Food. The color is gorgeous and the formula holds up so well. I wore it all day and it stayed put!
Next up, I received two face products. One thing that made this whole bag worth it is this deluxe sample of Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. The color of this bronzer is amazing and as is Tarte’s way, the formula stands up. I wore it out on a particularly humid day and didn’t lose any color. Boom! And even though this isn’t the full sized bronzer, it’s honestly pretty big as it is. It’s going to take me some time to work through the whole thing.
The other face product I received is a mini concealer crayon from a brand called Trestique. This is my second Trestique product so I knew I was in for good stuff. This concealer is smooth, creamy, and perfectly opaque. Even though it’s small, I’ve found that I kinda love that because now I carry it with me in my purse and the size makes it ideal for that. So, win-win?
The last product in my bag was an Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Travel size. Now THIS is a product I wish I had in a full size! The formula is so silky and the tip is perfect for creating clean, sharp lines. I may have to buy a full size of this because I am so impressed with it.
Overall, I’m giving this month’s bag a 4 stars out of 5. I’m deducting a star because everything I got was sample size, BUT I’m keeping it at a 4 star because the samples I DID get are honestly great and the total for everything here, including my AMAZING Gudetama bag, which is of a higher quality than past bags, still makes the $10 monthly membership costs WELL worth it.

I’ll be back again with another Ipsy Glam Bag next month: August! I wonder what the theme shall be…
